When did you open your business?

I first opened Los Portales Super Market in 2003 when I was 20 years old with the support of my 3 siblings, then opened Taqueria Los Portales in 2006, but in 2011 was when I got involved in the kitchen and got my passion of what I do best showing myself with my food. 2018 I decided to open Tequila with all my knowledge I had at that time, with Tequila Restaurant I wanted another challenge in my career being myself and being different.

Why in Wilmington?

I arrived in Wilmington in 1998 with my family and I love this place it’s my home, and found a niche for my business at this beautiful city.

What do you enjoy doing outside of your business?

When I am not working I love to spend time with my kids cooking at home.

Tell us your success story… 

I started my family business at age of 20 years old back in 2003 sacrificing time with family and friends, money, I did not get paid for months having my bank account in red numbers, but never gave up I knew that I was building something important. Always setting up new goals to accomplish to never stuck on doing the same thing.
