When did you open your business?
I opened my business in 2013, as the local market was just starting to recover from the “Great Recession”
Why in Wilmington?
I chose Wilmington for the same reason many of my buyers do… the beach! Having grown up on Long Island, I was looking to recreate the lifestyle I had enjoyed as a child, for my children. The Masonboro area of Wilmington looks very similar to where I grew up. Wilmington is just a days drive back to friends and family in NY and still enjoys all 4 seasons, which makes transitioning to a warmer climate easier.
What do you like most about the area?
Wilmington is like 4 towns in one. Downtown gives you an urban feel and offers great culture, dining and entertainment. Wrightsville Beach is a beach town with an upscale vibe. Reminiscent of the Hamptsons with luxury shopping and fine dining. Carolina Beach is more of a laid back, eclectic beach community with an old school “Jersey Shore” feeling. The residential communities around town feel very much like a suburban sprawl, so it’s easy to find a home and neighborhood for every taste. What I really love most about Wilmington? The incredible sunsets over the Cape Fear River!
What do you enjoy doing outside of your business?
The weather here is perfect for enjoying the outdoors! I love to play tennis and have recently taken up gardening. When I’m ready to “unplug” you will find me at Freeman’s Park soaking up the sun on my little slice of beachfront heaven!
Tell us a client success story.
We have been fortunate to build our business exclusively on the referrals from past clients. So there are a lot of success stories! Most recently, it was helping a young couple realize their dream of owning a small horse farm outside of Wilmington. There were lots of obstacles in the path on this one including a pandemic and a botched appraisal. It took a bit longer and in the end everyone was happily moved in and one to their new adventure!
We’re still looking for Wilmington business owners to feature in our hardcover book “Business Stars of Wilmington”.
