On Saturday I had the privilege to photograph something very special.
Beau’s Coffee Shop in Wilmington, NC posted a Facebook video recently that went viral, receiving over 1 MILLION views!
Pretty. Freaking. Awesome.
So Trevor said yes to Lillie’s promposal, and Marcus Anthony Photography was asked to photograph the day!
Lillie is the daughter of owners Amy and Ben Wright. Trevor is one of the many employees of Beau’s Coffee Shop.
1PM
We started the day with a catered lunch by Buffalo Wild Wings General Manager Kyle Ingraham.
Trevor and Lillie both got awesome gift boxes with tons of BWW Swag~
Shout out to the chefs there by the way…seriously some of the best grilled chicken tenders on the planet!
2:30PM
After lunch it was straight to Tame the Mane for Trevor’s haircut.
The barber there gave him a classic cut, and Trevor looked dappe.
Afterwards we all piled into our awesome stretch car provided by The British Taxi!
The weather could not have been better, and the HUGE sunroof was letting the most perfect breeze gently blow in.
3PM
Around 3 o’clock we arrived at Camille’s of Wilmington for Trevor’s tux!
Joanne Miranda, co-owner of the store, generously donated the tux for Trevor’s special day.
Needless to say, there was tons of dancing!
4:30PM
After Camille’s it was off to Airlie Gardens, where Trevor and Lillie had even more surprises waiting for them.
Ashley Morra from Ida Lou Weddings provided a full changing suite in the form of a fully restored vintage mobile home!
Are you kidding me? Just look at some of the awesome details on this thing, and it’s solar!
5:30PM
After Lillie got changed into her dress, we headed out to get some portraits around the Airlie Gardens grounds.
The sun was creating some really magical light with the Spanish moss, and the Ivy Fountain Courtyard did not disappoint.
As Lillie & Trevor were escorted by the British Taxi to their prom venue, you could see the look of true happiness of both of their faces.
This day that Jana Ingraham with Design a Dream Events put together for them was truly magical, and I was so honored to be part of it!
The awareness that Beau’s Coffee has been able to stir up is nothing short of inspiring.
Speaking to the owners Amy and her husband Ben, I learned that most people marginalize those with IDD (Intellectual Development Disorder) or straight up ignore them.
Employing an entire coffee shop with only those with IDD allows the public to interact with them on an intimate level.
Amy and Ben hope that their shop will inspire people to treat those with IDD as more than just someone with a disability. They’re people too! Just like you and me.
