This year the Wilmington NC Latimer House has committed themselves to offering a complete wedding experience for brides and grooms who prefer a more intimate ceremony.
They needed some photos to show how spectacular the house can be as a backdrop for a beautiful wedding, so naturally they called yours truly and we set up a styled bridal portrait session!
My wife Katie’s cousin Sarah agreed to play our bride, Coastal Knot lent us a stunning dress, and Rachael Mullen did the hair and makeup for Sarah.
The goal with this shoot was to showcase the Latimer House’s rich interior colors and textures. The challenge was getting clean light on our bride as interior lighting is almost never ideal, and window light isn’t reliable when showing large areas of a room.
Luckily I know my flash inside and out. The key is to blend it seamlessly with the available light in the room so it doesn’t look too artificial. The best part about bridal portrait sessions is there isn’t the time pressures of a wedding timeline and we can really take our time to get perfect looking pictures.
Enjoy!
