Erica and Derrick’s wedding at Bluewater Grill in Wilmington was one of the most emotional weddings I’ve ever been to. It was filled with love, laughter, and heartfelt speeches. Erica’s dad gave one of the most epic father of the bride speeches I’ve ever heard…and I’ve been to a lot of weddings!

The couple got ready at the Blockade Runner, and were shuttled over to Bluewater for their ceremony. After the ceremony Erica’s daughter Emily got wild on the dance floor, and it quickly became infectious. I’m pretty sure she danced with every single guest at the wedding!

I was honored to photograph this particular couple because they came all the way from Boulder, CO to get married on the beach. Erica found me on Google, and knew immediately that I was the photographer for her. When Katie and I were staying in Boulder for our birthdays last year, I got the opportunity to meet Erica and her fiancé Derrick for a quick lunch.

It became obvious right away that this wasn’t going to be an ordinary wedding because this was no ordinary bride and groom. Without giving too many personal details away, Erica and Derrick are extraordinary people and the size of their hearts are unmatched. The world could use more people like them.
